Transplantation — A sense of place and culture.

March 2nd, 2012

A number of projects running through the studio the past few weeks, this one has been a highlight, design of exhibition graphics and catalogue for a touring exhibition of Contemporary Narrative Jewellery by British and Australian artists in conjunction with The National Centre for Craft & Design.

We created a linear graphic device that represents the ideas outlined in Transplantation of movement and immigration. The graphic device is used throughout the document to carry typographic information, thoughts and memories.

The back cover is a flipped version of the front to represent the idea of movement and immigration between Britain and Australia.

SB x Joel Holland

February 9th, 2012

The past couple of weeks we’ve seen great progress on the Baffito’s brand, with the first venue very close to launching. We’ve been working with words man Mike Reed on the brand story and language and now collaborating with Joel Holland to illustrate it.

Joel resides in Brooklyn, NY and has worked for numerous publishers, advertising agencies, magazines, and friends. He has also worked in a cereal manufacturing plant, and as a model for several book jackets, oh and also makes his own beer.

You can see Joel’s work over on Dutch Uncle.

Value through Partnership

December 22nd, 2011

SB have been appointed to design and build the a new online presence for LSHP (Liverpool & Sefton Health Partnership) following a creative pitch in November.

LSHP has been working with local partners for over six years and has over that time built a reputation for delivery and reliability.  Their work has a huge impact upon communities providing access to better health care or new and improved community facilities.

Formed in 2004 as part of the UK Government’s Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) initiative. LIFT has been developed to address the chronic need to provide new, fit for purpose primary care facilities. As health policy encourages a shift toward primary care, this need is growing and the drive toward a joined up approach to the delivery of primary and social care only exacerbates the need for action.

Party

December 16th, 2011

Here are some snaps of a handful of the 80 SB/2 submissions. Unfortunately we couldn’t photograph all submissions in time due to a backlog at Royal Mail. Some are still lost in the system but once they arrive we’ll auction them off online – somehow! You can view more on Flickr.

All of the pieces sold via a blind raffle at the end of the evening with everyone going home with at least one piece and a little worse for wear. The exhibition raised £500.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

SB/2

December 6th, 2011

These past few weeks we’ve been receiving a whole host of SB/2 Exhibition submissions — all based around the brief ’2′ for our 2nd birthday party. The submissions have been incredibly responsive, some playful, some heart-wrenching, some touching, some funny, one crude! Which is just the way we like it — our idea has always been to open up the creative process by providing a near non-existent brief.

Responses from designers, artists, clients, journalists and collaborators to leading industry figures, friends and family.

We are still waiting on a select few with the re-extended deadline fast approaching — Friday 9th December. All works will be auctioned off on the night to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
