Create GB

In the build up to London 2012, online magazine We Heart celebrated Great British creativity, shining the spotlight on up-and-coming and more established talents alike. From art to product design, fashion to food; Create GB showed the world that convention-prodding, thought-provoking and unashamedly eccentric British design and creativity is as thriving and resounding as it’s ever been.

SB were approached by James Davidson, Editor at We Heart in August of last year to design what is now a beautiful 196-page publication, with 4 unique covers, using 50 different typefaces and featuring the likes of Kai & Sunny, Jiro Bevis, Patrick Stevenson-Keating, Margot Bowman, Kyle Bean, Death Spray Custom, Lee Broom, Kate Moross and many more…

Printed by our good friends at Evolution the book
is now on sale at Cow&Co.

Cow&Co Store, Liverpool

The shop has a modern, eclectic feel with upcycled industrial trolleys, german picnic tables and key clamp scaffolding combined with spruce plywood fitted throughout. We designed a system which is both flexible and functional. It was important that the shop didn’t have a typical retail atmosphere, so we developed a warm and inviting environment which changes daily.

The signage was made from offcuts of spruce plywood, laser cut and hand painted — indoor olive trees and a bold graphic language bring the space together to create a unique interior which mirrors the products sold in the shop which hail from all over the world. SB are now working on visual merchandising for the store and its pop up shops.

Transplantation Exhibition

Design of exhibition graphics and printed catalogue for a touring exhibition of Contemporary Narrative Jewellery by British and Australian artists in conjunction with The National Centre for Craft & Design. We created a linear graphic device that represents the ideas outlined in Transplantation of movement and immigration.

The graphic device is used throughout the document to carry typographic information, thoughts and memories. The back cover is a flipped version of the front to represent the idea of movement and immigration between Britain and Australia.

Merchandise Baffito's Warrington Bar & Pizzeria

Baffito’s Bar & Pizzeria

Bringing a brand to life. Offering a contemporary approach to pizza, fusing a fun and friendly atmosphere with the highest food standards to create a unique, affordable dining experience where you can enjoy the food theatre as you watch your pizza bake in magnificent stone hearth ovens.

To support its rapid growth, new bar & pizzeria chain Baffito’s needed an identity, brand voice, guidelines, character and interior design to breath life into its restaurants. Our aim was to create an identity that was more than just a logo. A combination of different elements that combine to create a clearly identifiable look that reflects the values of the brand.

brinkmain

The Brink

Inventing a brand that has a voice, one with style, swagger and a wry smile. One that would engage anyone in the city — not just those recovering from addiction. The Brink is Liverpool’s first dry bar. Formed by Action on Addiction, its fundamental aim was to create a place where those recovering from addiction can go and socialise, attend events, or just hang out — without the temptation of anything stronger than coffee.

The brief was to build a lively, celebratory, positive brand. No earnest messaging about the dangers of addiction or the joys of sobriety, instead, a brand with energy. In its visual and verbal identity, it doesn’t dwell on the ‘dry’ aspect, but includes it as an element within a much broader, richer personality.

Infectious

We were asked to create a new identity for Infectious, a digital studio specialising in CGI, animation, film and visual effects. They are a creative studio who create and tell brand stories.

We developed a fun and friendly identity and tone of voice that says hello, introduces them (quite literally) and simply describes what they do. It is an identity that can open doors, create new opportunities and that will allow them to stand apart from others.
